Tire Care and Maintenance
Rotation
Lexus recommends that tires be inspected every 6 months or 8,000 km and rotated as required. Early and regular tire rotation is one of the best ways to extend the life of your tires and enhance your vehicle’s handling, ensuring that tread wear is even across all four tires.
Inflation
Maintaining correct tire inflation pressure provides many sm. It helps optimize driving performance and fuel efficiency; it allows drivers to experience tire comfort and reduce road noise; and it stabilizes the tire’s structure, helping to maximize the life of your tires. The Tire Pressure recommendation is found in your Lexus Owner’s Manual, on a label affixed to the driver’s door pillar or inside the glove box.
Tread Wear
Advanced or unusual tread wear can reduce your tires’ ability to grip the road, especially in adverse conditions. Your Lexus Dealership regularly checks tires for damage or uneven wear and measures tread depth. If Tires are worn to the manufacturer’s limit – 1.6mm (2/32″) All-Season and 4mm (5/32″ Winter – or to the visible “wear bar” (small, raised strips of smooth rubber), your Lexus Dealership can recommend replacement tires based on your vehicle and driving habits.
Storage
Tires will age naturally, but you may be able to prolong their life through proper storage. Off-season tires should be stored flat, in a cool, dry location. Store them out of direct sunlight to minimize the impact of ultraviolet rays and heat, and away from electrical motors or machines that may emit damaging ozone. Your Lexus Dealership may offer convenient Storage service, holding your Tires during the off-season and re-installing them during maintenance visits.
Wheel Alignment
What is it
Proper wheel alignment contributes significantly to the safe operation and optimal performance of your Lexus.
That is just the start. Take a moment to explore the full range of benefits, what is involved when your vehicle needs an alignment, and when to follow up with your Lexus Dealer to ensure that your Lexus is operating in peak condition.
Wheel alignments help ensure that all four wheels are properly oriented for optimal contact with the surface of the road, which contributes to a smoother ride and more stable steering. The alignment itself involves adjustments to an array of components to help ensure that wheel and suspension angles — known as caster, camber and toe — are properly aligned according to the manufacturers specifications. Depending on your Lexus’ drivetrain, your Lexus dealer may recommend a front-wheel or 4-wheel alignment.
- Longer tire tread life
- Improved fuel efficiency
- Enhanced handling, steering and tracking
- Reduced service needs if steering and suspension components are always in balance and correct alignment
During a regularly scheduled maintenance, your Assistant Service Manager Lexus Service Advisor may suggest a wheel alignment check or tire balance.* As a consumer, it is important for you to be aware of what is involved when your vehicle has an alignment done, as well as what can cause your vehicle to go out of alignment. Knowing these two important factors may assist in you in making an informed decision.
Benefits
Having all 4 wheels in proper alignment enhances your vehicle’s performance and your driving experience in a
number of ways.
- Proper caster alignment helps make your Lexus more stable at high speeds.
- Proper camber alignment extends tire tread life and provides more stable cornering performance.
- Proper toe alignment extends tire tread life, improves fuel efficiency, and enhances ride comfort.
- A tire balance helps create a smooth ride and stable steering.
When to do it
Impacts with potholes, or worn suspension system components are just two examples as to why wheels may go out of alignment. Lexus highly recommends having your wheel alignment checked in conjunction with your Spring maintenance.* Here’s a list of other signs and situations that might call for an alignment inspection.
- When steering pulls to one side
- When the steering wheel is unstable or vibrates
- When there is uneven wear on tires
- When new tires or suspension components are installed
- After a car accident (major or minor)
- When riding is uncomfortable or fuel efficiency suddenly gets worse
Tire Sizes
When your Lexus vehicle was designed and built, the engineers and product planners carefully selected a tire size, considering many factors, like performance, safety and fuel efficiency. Lexus recommends that you select the original equipment tire fitment when selecting winter or replacement tires.

A Tire for All Seasons
Everyone has different criteria for selecting tires, from wet weather traction and long tread life to quiet ride and firm grip in ice or snow. The experts at your Lexus Tire Centre are pleased to assist you in finding the tires that fit both your Lexus automobile and your varied requirements.

Performance Tires
Soft rubber compounds and shallow, narrow tread patterns maximize the rubber touching the road. Typically
low-profile, Performance Tires have stiff sidewalls for sharp steering response and firm grip on dry pavement.
- Sporty appearance and firm ride quality
- Soft rubber compounds grip the road, but result in faster wear
- Grooved treads shed water and prevent hydroplaning
- Low profile can result in increased road noise and firmer, less comfortable ride quality
Winter Tires
Designed to perform optimally in both snowy conditions and cold temperatures, providing the performance and
safety you expect. Legally required on all passenger vehicles in Quebec, between December 15th and March 15th.
- Unidirectional/V-groove tread designs are best at moving slush and snow out of the way
- Large, open tread blocks with many tiny slits (sipes), cut through deep snow and perform better on wet
pavement - Specialized, soft tread compounds dig into snow, stick to ice at low temperatures, and contribute to a
comfortable ride on cold pavement
All-Season Tires
Good performance in a wide variety of conditions, but as conditions become more extreme, performance is
reduced. With harder rubber compounds than Performance tires, they have longer tread life and provide a
quieter
ride.
- Longer tread life and quieter ride than performance tires
- Tread designs provide low rolling resistance and improved fuel efficiency
- Mid-range aspect ratios provide a balance of ride comfort and nimble handling
